Hall of Fame

Welcome to the Formula Palmer Audi Hall of Fame. Throughout its time, FPA has played an integral role in advancing the careers of hundreds of young drivers. In this section, you'll find details of just some of these drivers who have risen through the ranks, right up to the pinnacle of motorsport that is Formula One. Simply click on each car below to reveal more about the FPA drivers who have gone on to compete in that series.

Formula 1

In total an impressive nine FPA graduates have gone on to drive Formula One machinery, clearly demonstrating the series' credentials as a gateway to top-level motorsport. Of these, Justin Wilson remains one of the standout drivers with the inaugural FPA champion and British driver going on to race for Jaguar before continuing his career in America (see Indycar Series below). Giorgio Pantano also progressed to F1 as well as winning the GP2 series in 2008, whilst Gary Paffett remains a Mclaren test driver and DTM racer.

IRL IndyCar

After becoming the inaugural FPA champion back in 1998, British driver Justin Wilson quickly moved through the motorsport ranks and is now a highly successful Indycar Series driver in America. In his first year, racing with Dreyer and Reinbold, Justin scored one pole position, two podiums and six other top-10 finishes en route to 11th in the drivers' standings. He resigned with the team for 2011 and continues to challenge for podiums and wins. Meanwhile, Roger Yasukawa followed Justin stateside and has also enjoyed a successful Indycar career.

Formula 2

FPA has also been a feeder series for the FIA Formula Two Championship, and has helped several of the UK's best young drivers progress up the motorsport ladder - including Alex Brundle, son of ex-F1 pilot and BBC commentator Martin Brundle, Jack Clarke, Jolyon Palmer, Jason Moore and Jordan King. Lithuania's Kazim Vasiliauskas also cut his teeth in FPA, and a bright future beckons for the 19-year-old after he won his first F2 race in Imola in 2009. More recently Max Snegirev and Spain's Ramón Piñeiro have both made the leap and look set to have strong careers ahead of them.

GP2

GP2 remains one of the strongest F1 feeder-series in motorsport and as such has seen many FPA drivers pass through its doors. Giorgio Pantano won the highly competitive series in 2008 before moving into Formula One while Adam Carroll has also graduated to the one-make championship. More recently, Jolyon Palmer has followed suit racing with Arden International after rising through the FPA and F2 ranks. He now looks set to enjoy a promising career ahead of him and could well be knocking on the doors of F1 in the near future.

World Series by Renault

World Series by Renault remains a proven feeder category to F1 glory having helped drivers such as Robert Kubica and Sebastian Vettel get to where they are today. British driver Robbie Kerr is one FPA graduate who also sampled the Formula Renault 3.5 machinery racing for the KTR team during the 2006 season, as well as enjoying successful campaigns in A1GP, British F3 and the Le Mans series.

A1GP

An impressive nine FPA drivers have gone on to enjoy a professional career in A1GP including Team GBR's Robbie Kerr. The 2008/9 A1GP series, for instance, included a host of frontrunners that once plied their trade in FPA, including Team Ireland's Adam Carroll, Team Netherlands' Jeroen Bleekemolen and Team GBR's Danny Watts.

DTM

Gary Paffett, Adam Carroll and Jeroen Bleekemolen are just a handful of FPA drivers who have enjoyed success in DTM - the highly renowned German touring car series. British driver Paffett in particular is one of the championship's standout drivers having raced since 2003 before being crowned champion in 2005 racing for the HWA Team outfit.

NASCAR Sprint Series

Like Justin Wilson, a number of FPA graduates have taken their careers across the pond to race in America. Andy Lally, who competed in FPA in 1999, has carved out a successful career for himself in a variety of USA motorsport series and in 2011 made his NASCAR Sprint Series debut with TRG Motorsports.

Sports Cars

Many FPA drivers have also chosen to develop their talents in sportscars. Romain Dumas and Darren Turner, for instance, are factory sportscar drivers for Porsche and Aston Martin respectively. Turner has been a winner in class at the Le Mans 24 Hours whilst Dumas won the LMP2 American Le Mans Series in 2008.

World Touring Cars

Triple World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx MBE is arguably the most successful FPA graduate of all time, and he is joined on the World Touring Car Championship grid by fellow Briton Rob Huff - another ex-FPA racer.
