The Formula Palmer Audi Championship welcomes Andre Manzarra to its line-up for rounds seven and eight at Snetterton this weekend (4/5 July).
The Brazilian driver was initially hoping to contest the full FPA season, but is happy to be joining the grid for the series' annual visit to Norfolk. "It is a fantastic opportunity for me," he said. "Even though it will be my debut, I want to be competitive. I really believe that I can run towards the front."
Manzarra tested the car on Wednesday at Bedford Autodrome, FPA's own test track. "The car is awesome," he commented. "It is a completely new experience for me - the turbo engine, large slick tyres and the boost button. I got used to it really quickly though and I felt comfortable in the car - it was a really great test."
After becoming the South Brazilian karting champion in 2007, Manzarra was selected as a finalist for the Formula BMW scholarship in Valencia last season. "I enjoyed the experience at Valencia and I have also had some tests in a Formula Renault, but I really wanted to race in FPA. I have never driven at Snetterton before, but I am really looking forward to the weekend."
The 19-year-old will take to the circuit for the first time tomorrow (Friday) during the two free practice sessions, before qualifying commences on Saturday morning. The opening race of the FPA weekend will take place at 13:45 later the same day, whilst race two will get underway at 14:25 on Sunday.
