Alonso sets the practice pace at Snetterton
Spaniard sees off the challenge of Kimilainen and Plant

Silverstone race winner Jose Alonso set the quickest lap time of the day (Friday) in the final FPA free practice session at Snetterton.

The circuit had dried following an earlier shower, and the Spaniard was able to set his benchmark time in perfect conditions. "I was really surprised when I saw I had gone quickest," said Alonso. "I wasn't actually that comfortable with the car, but it is a good sign to be quick when you know things can get a lot better."

Emma Kimilainen also starred at Silverstone by clinching two podium positions, and the Finnish female driver was back on form today - she set the second fastest time. "Was I really second?" said a surprised Emma. "It is always so hard to tell in practice. Running on used tyres can make you feel like you are having a terrible session! I really like the circuit though, and the smallest of margins could make all the difference in qualifying tomorrow."

Richard Plant left it late to take third - setting his time on his final flying lap. "It has been a good day," said Plant. "I have a good feeling with the car and I have always enjoyed racing at Snetterton. It will be tough, but I am aiming for two wins this weekend."

Paul Rees was again snapping at the heels of the top three, the Englishman took fourth ahead of championship leader Tristan Vautier. Adam Foster rounded out the top six in another highly competitive session - the top 15 drivers were separated by just 0.977s.

The qualifying session will take place at 09:00 tomorrow - the drivers fastest lap time will go towards the grid for race one, whilst their second quickest time in the 30-minute session will be used to make up the grid race two. The opening race of the FPA weekend will take place at 13:45 tomorrow, whilst race two will get underway at 14:25 on Sunday.
