Spaniard Ramón Piñeiro joined Formula Palmer Audi for the final two rounds of the 2009 season at Silverstone and Snetterton - both circuits FPA will visit this year. He showed strongly from the very start, qualifying second for his debut race - although an accident meant he was only able to finish 17th. He made up for the disappointment by clinching his maiden podium in the very last race of the year, having also finished fifth in the previous race.

Piñeiro joins fellow countryman José Alonso Liste on the FPA grid. Alongside his races in FPA last year, the Spanish driver has spent two seasons in Formula BMW Europe. He enjoyed a successful debut season in the one make series, scoring two pole positions and a fastest lap in 2008. During the season he competed alongside Formula Two race winner Philipp Eng.
