Dutchman Melroy Heemskerk joins Formula Palmer Audi after a sensational 2009 campaign in the Formula Ford Duratec Benelux series, where Melroy scored a perfect ten victories from ten races. For good measure he also started from pole for seven races, and set six fastest laps over the course of the season. In addition he also achieved highly impressive results in the Dutch Mazda MX-5 Cup, taking three race wins and one podium from the four races he contested.

Melroy's car racing career dates back to 2005, when he took part in a solitary race in the Unipart Endurance Cup. Since then he has raced in a host of championships and has met with regular success. He has also run well in initial FPA tests at Bedofrd Autodrome, where he finished less than seven tenths off the lap record, and again in pre-season where he was less than a second off Maxime Jousse's fastest time.

"The FPA car is actually quite similar to a Formula Ford - obviously it has more power, but it moves around when you drive it and I really like that style of car. It's a great championship - when you look at the price compared to what you get, it's a really good combination. After my first few sessions in the FPA car, I'm very confident I can be competitive."
